Yeah, there is a homebrew app. called a UMD/IS0 Loader that allows Japanese to English UMD conversion for some games.
Also there is another homebrew app called PSPDictionary which lets you convert jap. text to english using wi-fi(this has nothing to do with UMD’s)
You will need custom firmware to run these.
Go to: http://www.dark-alex.org to get the latest ones, and buy a pandora batt, then write the needed files onto your mem stick by downloading psp grader on your PC, to get custom firmware.
